About me
I am a language professional with more than fifteen years of experience. I began my career in academic publishing and later moved into the corporate sphere, spending five years as part of an in-house team of translators and proofreaders at Volkswagen AG. I have been freelance since 2015, working with clients from both the academic and commercial worlds.
I truly become invested in every text I translate or proofread: I want it to be the best it can be. It is rewarding to read back over a tricky paragraph and find that I’ve made it easily intelligible for the reader, or to come up with just the right play on words for a heading or slogan. My aim is to facilitate communication, and I achieve this by ensuring clarity and consistency. For example, I might reword a sentence to give it a more natural flow, or cross-check terminology to make sure it is consistent with a company’s existing online presence.
When it comes to translation, my work benefits from my familiarity with German-speaking culture and the way the language is really used by people in their day-to-day lives. This knowledge is something I have acquired through many years of being immersed in German life. However, I remain very connected to my native land and language, typically spending around two months of the year in the UK and reading extensively in English.
So if you want to know that your text is in safe hands, get in touch and I'll be happy to provide you with a quote. I look forward to discussing your project with you.
