Transcript editing

What is transcript editing and why is it needed?

These days, transcription doesn't have to be done from scratch: there is AI technology available that transcribes audio and video files with a good degree of accuracy. However, these automatically generated transcripts do still require editing by a human. This individual will read over the transcript whilst listening to the audio, verifying that everything in the transcript is correct. There are inevitably parts of the text that the technology has "misheard" due to the speaker not enunciating a word clearly, for example, or because they have used a proper noun, such as the name of a company or person. The transcript editor corrects and queries these words where necessary. They also remove filler words and, depending on the desired level of editing, can make tweaks to the text to improve quality. This can be particularly useful if the person speaking is a non-native English speaker.

I charge €35 per hour for transcript editing.
